COLUMBIA - A fire in north Columbia left an owner with $30,000 in damages.
According to a Columbia Fire Department media release, at about 2:26 p.m. crews got a call to respond to a fire at 3501 Clark Lane in a trailer park named Creekwood Estates. Columbia firefighters arrived on the scene at approximately 2:30 p.m. where it took about 12 minutes to control the flames.
Fire crews saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the northeast corner of the home. Fire fighter kept the fire contained to the back bedroom and adjacent bathroom. One adult female was home during the fire. She recieved smoke irritation to the eyes, but no major injuries.
The cause of the fire resulted from improperly discarding smoking materials indoors. There were no working smoke alarms in the home.
