Transit Commission Members Experience Columbia's Bus System
Several members of the commission rode on the "Orange 101 South Loop," which left from Wabash station.
Drew Brooks with Columbia Transit said residents main concern is the hours the buses operate. But he said extending the hours of operation would mean more funding.
"I know there's a lot of folks looking at that. So, hopefully in the future we'll be able to change some of those things," Brooks said.
Brooks said riding the bus gave the commission a different perspective since many of them have never rode the buses.
"I think if we keep doing what we're doing and keep expanding our service, and fixing those little issues along the way I think it will be a very positive impact," Brooks said.
Commission member Rachel Ruhlen rode her bike to the station and used the bike racks on the bus for the first time.
She said it took her a little while to figure out how to use the rack. But once she learned how to use it she said it worked quite well.
Members plan to ride each bus route before COMO Connect launches.
