Trial in Mid-Missouri Homicide Postponed
JEFFERSON CITY (AP) -- The murder trial of the wife of a former mid-Missouri police officer has been postponed.
Sandra Plunkett is accused of killing retired Jefferson City police officer Paul Plunkett. Her trial was scheduled to start Monday but was postponed to give the defense more time.
The Jefferson City News-Tribune reports that the prosecution and defense were ordered to submit a schedule for trial by Oct. 12.
Fifty-two-year-old Paul Plunkett was shot in January in the house he shared with his wife in the Callaway County town of Holts Summit. Plunkett was a Jefferson City police officer for nearly two decades.
Sandra Plunkett told investigators a man dressed in camouflage had pointed a gun at her outside her home. She said she found her husband shot to death in their home.
