Troopers investigate double fatality crash in Montgomery County
MONTGOMERY COUNTY - The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed two people died Monday night after a crash in Montgomery County.
Nancy Almstedt, 54, and Scott Almstedt, 56, were both killed in the accident, according to an online traffic crash report. The driver of the second vehicle, Danny Malloy, 42, received moderate injuries and was transported to University Hospital.
The accident occured when one vehicle, driven by Scott Almstedt, attempted to pass in a no passing zone. The second vehicle, driven by Malloy, crested a hill, with Almstedt attempting to swerve away from a collision. The second vehicle then struck the first vehicle.
Sgt. Scott White with MSHP said the crash was on Missouri Route 19 near New Florence, about three miles south of I-70.
Police blocked off Missouri Route 19 less than a mile from I-70.
The Major Crash Investigation Unit also went to the scene of the crash.
