Troopers search for bank robbery suspects in Boone County field
BOONE COUNTY - Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers were searching a field late Friday morning for suspects believed to be involved in an armed robbery of a Moberly bank earlier in the day.
Boone County sheriff's deputies were assisting with the search near Highway 63 and Route F near the Randolph County line. Troopers on the scene initially told KOMU 8 News shots were fired in the corn field near the MoDOT commuter parking lot at the intersection. Later, troopers clarified the were not sure where the shots were fired. Troopers said they located a vehicle at that location believed to be stolen. They said troopers were searching on foot and via two helicopters for the suspects they believed were on foot in the field.
Sturgeon Schools were on modified lockdown in the Highway 63/Route F area as of late Friday morning.
