Truman State U. Goes on Lockdown After Gun Report
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State University temporarily goes on lockdown after a report of a man with a gun, but police say the public or students were never in danger.
KTVO-TV reports a mass text message was sent to students sometime after 9 p.m. Saturday saying there was no reason to believe anyone was in immediate danger, but it advised them to stay inside until further notice.
Two hours later university police chief Tom Johnson told reporters the lockdown had been lifted, but officers would continue patrolling the campus searching for the man.
Nobody was available at the Kirksville Police Department or university police late Sunday afternoon to provide details about whether anyone was found.
