Tulsa Demo Crew Remains In Joplin
JOPLIN - S&J Tree Service from Tulsa has been in Joplin since the tornado hit on May 22nd. The crew has helped with everything from digging out survivors to working on demolition.
"It was just adrenaline when we got here," Angie Brock of S&J Tree Service said.
Brock said the crews are not trained for search and rescue, but when you see a need you just help out.
"We have moved our focus to demo now and that is providing challenges of its own," Brock said.
The demolition is unlike any project that S&J has taken on.
"We are running into gas tanks that we hope are turned off along with power lines that are intertwined everywhere," Brad Pippin, an employee of S&J Tree Service, said.
Pippin said he wakes up around 4:30 am and works until 10 o'clock at night.
"I've never seen anything like this before," Pippin said. "It's horrible."
