Two accused of shooting at semis in high-speed chase face new charges
FULTON - The Callaway County Prosecutor's Office filed charges on Wednesday against a man and woman awaiting sentencing for federal crimes.
The charges against Russell Moore and Victoria Buol stem from an investigation into a series of burglaries and vehicle thefts in March and April 2016. The incidents happened in communities like Hatton, Williamsburg, Steedman and Holts Summit. The property and vehicles stolen during these incidents were recovered and returned to their owners.
Moore and Buol pleaded guilty in December and January, respectively, to federal charges related to a 2016 high-speed chase in Boone and Callaway Counties, during which they shot at semi trucks in an effort to cause them to crash and block pursuit by law enforcement.
Moore, 27, faces up to 40 years in prison without parole; Buol, 25, faces at least 35 years in prison with no parole. No sentencing dates for either person have been set.
The filing of charges in Callaway County had been deferred until now due to the federal investigation.
