VERSAILLES - The Humane Society is offering a $2,500 reward for information regarding two cats who were found shot with arrows in Versailles.
Morgan County law enforcement officials notified the Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force and it is now investigating the report. Both cats were shot in the neck with the arrows protruding or exiting near the shoulder.
The reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for injuring the cats. Persons with information should contact the Morgan County Sheriff's Office at 573-378-5481.
The cats, both 2-year-old males named Patches and Licorice, are now in treatment for pain and infection at the office of a local veterinarian who cautions that Patches may lose a leg as a result of the injuries he sustained. Eventually, Patches and Licorice will be transferred to HSMO headquarters in St. Louis for further rehabilitation and, hopefully, eventual adoption.
