Two men arrested in connection with shots fired incident
COLUMBIA - The Columbia Police Department announced Monday in a news release 24-year-old Quenten Maurice Hurt and 23-year-old Darryl Eugene Troy Jr. were arrested in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred last week.
The incident took place in the area of Garth Avenue and Business Loop 70 on Wednesday, June 22.
Officers were dispatched at 7:59 p.m. Wednesday on a shots fired call and located a car in the 200 block of Lynn Street with substantial damaged police believed was caused by gunfire. No one was in the car when officers arrived.
An investigation revealed the damaged car was traveling southbound on Grand Avenue when two cars traveling northbound, one carrying Troy and the other Hurt, opened gunfire.
Three people were in the car, a 31-year-old adult male, a 25-year-old adult female and a one-year-old juvenile.
The car sustained two flat tires as a result of the gunfire and collided with a parked car in the 200 block of Lynn Street. The three people in the car fled the scene on foot.
The adult female sustained several puncture wounds and lacerations caused by shattered glass.
At approximately 12:34 a.m. Saturday, detectives from the Street Crimes Unit arrested Hurt and Troy at a traffic stop on felony warrants without bond.
