Two Men Shot by ATF Agent; One Critical
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Two men are hospitalized after being shot in St. Louis by an agent for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The shooting happened Wednesday as ATF agents and police were trying to arrest the suspects. One of the suspects was critically wounded. Details about the other were not immediately available.
The ATF said the agents and police sought to make arrests after a three-week investigation. A source reported that authorities received information the suspects were planning an armed robbery.
The ATF said that as authorities tried to make the arrests the suspects drove at the agents. One agent fired his gun.
In addition to the two people shot, three people were arrested.
