Two wounded, one critically, in Columbia shooting; police questioning suspects
COLUMBIA - Two people went to a hospital after getting shot in Columbia on Thursday afternoon. The Columbia Police Department said it was questioning many witnesses and multiple people were detained at the scene, but no one had been arrested.
CPD said officers arrived at 1000 block of Claudell Lane shortly before 1 p.m. and found a male with "clearly life threatening" injuries and provided medical support before an ambulance arrived.
Another victim was found in a different location in the same apartment complex.
Both victims are males in their late teens or early 20s.
Police recovered shell casings at the scene, but a weapon had not been recovered as of Thursday afternoon. A K-9 was brought in to do tracking in the area.
CPD said approximately two-thirds of the apartment complex is part of the investigation. The complex is still open to residents but CPD said a high police presence was expected to last several hours.
