In October 2011, it was the Jefferson City football team that entered its game against mid-Missouri rival Hickman with an 8-1 record. But it was Hickman, 4-5 before the game, that emerged with the victory.

The loss meant the Jays would miss the Class 6 high school playoffs -- and that the Kewpies would qualify.

Friday, second-ranked Jefferson City will look to reverse that loss as Hickman travels to Adkins Stadium, home of the Jays.

Despite the bitter ending to last season, though, Jefferson City head coach Ted LePage said Friday isn't about revenge.

"We use it as they're 5-0, and we're 5-0, and this is a district game," he said.

LePage's team is coming off a 42-24 victory over De Smet last week in which senior quarterback Thomas LePage had 232 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns.

The ninth-ranked Kewpies also won last week, defeating local rival Rock Bridge in the Providence Bowl for the first time since 2008. But despite winning 22-21, head coach Arnel Monroe isn't resting on his laurels.

"We went right back to work Saturday morning," he said. "We felt like that there was some things we didn't do that would've stretched the margin of victory."
