United Way of Central Missouri to Remain Partners with Boy Scouts
JEFFERSON CITY - After the Heart of Missouri United Way cut funding to the Boy Scouts of America Great Rivers Council , United Way of Central Missouri in Jefferson City told KOMU 8 they would continue allocating money to the Boy Scouts.
"We've been partnered with the Boy Scouts since 1925," said Ann Bax, president and CPO of United Way of Central Missouri. "They work with high-risk and low-income youth. It's been a great partnership and I don't see it ending any time soon."
United Way of Central Missouri allocated $36,000 to the Great Rivers Council Boy Scouts of America in 2012. The partnership decisions were made early in the year.
"Members who wanted funding had to have their applications in by January of 2012, so we've known for a while they would continue to receive funding," Bax said.
The Boy Scouts lost $41,000 in funding from Heart of Missouri United Way after it announced it would not give the Boy Scouts money in 2013.
