University Hospital Returns to Normal Status
COLUMBIA - In lieu of triple homicide suspect Joshua Maylee's capture Thursday morning, University Hospital is back to normal operations.
This afternoon University Hospital officials suspended the lockdown after receiving word that suspect Josh Maylee was apprehended around 1:30 this afternoon.
On Wednesday, officials say 41-year-old Gina Werderhausen was shot in the neck and was rushed to the hospital. Shortly after, Columbia Police alerted the hospital that the suspect involved in the shooting may try to enter the hospital. Hospital officials placed the facility under lock-down.
Hospital officials say Werderhausen remains in stable condition.
New Bloomfield and South Callaway school were also under a lock-out Thursday, which means that while classes continue normally, the doors were locked and visitors are not permitted to enter.
South Callaway High School officials dropped the lock-in at two this afternoon. The school allowed students to leave the school at dismissal time without parents getting involved.
