COLUMBIA - U.S. News and World Report announced its prestigious list of best hospitals this week. University of Missouri Health Care was the only hospital in Columbia or central Missouri to make the list.
It was ranked second in the state, out of more than 100 hospitals. Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis was the only hospital ranked ahead of MU Health Care.
MU Health Care was rated as "high performing" in eight adult specialities including: diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenteroloy, gynecology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopaedics, pulmonology, and urology. It was the only Columbia or mid-Missouri hospital recognized as "high performing" in any medical specialty.
James Ross, chief executive officer of MU Health Care said in a release, "This recognition is a result of the skill, experience, and dedication to patient-and-family-centered care that our physicians, nurses, health professionals and other staff demonstrate every day."
