COLUMBIA - Officials believe part of the Brookside apartment complex that burnt down Sunday will be available for students to move into by or near the beginning of next semester.
Brookside officials estimate 30% of the building can be salvaged and should be ready by August. They said the remaining part of the complex could be finished by January 2013.
They are also providing two options for those displaced by the fire. Residents can either terminate their contract and begin looking for other places or keep their contract and move into temporary housing possibly provided by Stephens College.
"Once we are able to further refine the schedule for occupancy of each unit, we will be contacting each resident directly to determine their preference," said the Brookside message to residents.
Brookside officials believe this process should happen before the end of the week.
Details of housing through Stephens College have not been finalized.
