UPDATE: Accident Causes Traffic Backup On I-70
COLUMBIA - An single vehicle accident involving a semi-truck caused major traffic delays along I-70 East and Business Loop 70 in Columbia earlier Friday evening.
The accident took place around 6:30 this evening. Columbia Fire officials say no one was hurt in the accident.
The truck driver told police a car swerved in front of him, causing him to swerve out of the way. When he did this, his truck jack knifed, blocking two lanes of the highway.
Columbia police officers and MoDot workers directed traffic down to one lane between Business Loop 70 and Highway 63 for about an hour and a half.
One officer told KOMU the accident had traffic backed up for a few miles.
