UPDATE: Columbia Police arrest suspect in bank robbery case
COLUMBIA - Columbia Police officers arrested Carl Lovell Wade, according to reports, after investigating a robbery at First State Community Bank on Golden Bear Drive.
Wade, 51, a Columbia-native, reportedly took a taxi to the bank, before handing a teller a note demanding cash and insinuating he had a weapon. Wade then left the bank with undisclosed amount of money in the same cab.
Officers responded to the alleged robbery Wednesday morning. They initially found a suspect matching the description near Vandiver Drive and Paris Road by calling the taxi-cab company. Wade was then reportedly arrested near the 2200 block of Paris Road with cash on him and the bank robbery note in a trash can nearby.
Wade was arrested for robbery in the first degree, with bond to be set. He was transported and released to the Boone County Jail.
No injuries or property damage were reported.
A First State Community Bank employee told KOMU 8 the bank will remain closed until further notice.
