COLUMBIA, MO (February 22, 2013) - Crews began plowing residential streets at 1pm today and hope to touch every street by sometime on Sunday. All available resources are being utilized and crews will continue 24-hour operations until every street is plowed.
With rate of snow yesterday and number of stalled cars, road crews didn't get a good start on plowing until early evening. The City had personnel pushing cars and other tasks, just so crews could get to First and Second priority streets.
Crews are now plowing residential streets in every ward. Crews began in the center of town and are working their way outward. On the next measurable 4 inches쳌 snowfall, plowing will begin from the outer boundaries and work toward the center of town. This helps ensure that no particular neighborhood is always first.
NOTE: As folks begin shoveling their drives, they should scoop snow to the right side of the driveway (as they are facing the street) to avoid having driveways plowed shut.
We are grateful for the patience and spirit of helpfulness that has occurred throughout the community.
