UPDATE: Four Students Hospitalized After Jefferson City Bus Accident
JEFFERSON CITY - On Friday, May 3rd, at about 7:30am, Jefferson City Police responded to the 200 block of Eastland Drive, located near the intersection of Lewis and Clark Drive and Eastland Drive. Reports received indicated a school bus traveling westbound on Eastland collided with a Kia passenger vehicle as the Kia exited the drive from Lewis and Clark Middle School.
The driver of the Kia had moderate injuries and the driver of the school bus had minor injuries - both were transported via ambulance to a local hospital. In addition, three children in the bus reported minor injuries and were transported by ambulace as well. A fourth child was transported by parent after a parent responded to the school. No information will be released about the students without parental consent.
The remaining 35 children on the bus were met by school officials at Lewis and Clark Middle School who had health care staff on hand to triage any potential injuries. No other children were transported as of this release.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by Traffic Section officers.
