RANDOLPH COUNTY - Cassidy King entered a not guilty plea Wednesday for abandonment of a corpse in the Randolph County 14th judicial circuit.  Her public defender waived the arraignment.  Her next court date is scheduled for May 23 to set a preliminary hearing.

The probable cause statement from the Missouri State Highway Patrol links King, 25, of Moberly, to the duffel bag found containing an infant's body in a pond outside Higbee. An examination of the duffel bag uncovered a towel with the name "Cassidy King" on it. The statement says responding officers found the remains of "a deceased newborn male infant" Sunday, May 8, in a body of water on the property located at 1630 Route H in Randolph County. Troopers were summoned after a passer by, Jamie Miles, pulled the duffel bag from the pond. Miles is King's sister. Investigators interviewed an associate of King's who says King confided in him that she "had given birth to a child several weeks ago at her residence in Moberly." Results of autopsy and DNA test, performed Monday, are still unknown.
