UPDATE: Man charged in deadly Linn Creek shooting
CAMDEN COUNTY - A Linn Creek man has died after being shot at in the Decaturville area Wednesday morning according to Camden County Sheriff's Department.
Joseph W. Beeman, 33, was shot at least twice during a confrontation with Dustin Burkhart at Burkhart's residence off Old South State Highway Five.
Burkart told authorities Beeman came to Burkhart's residence with a gun and demanded that a female who was there - leave with him. The female refused to leave and that's when Burkart grabbed his gun.
Authorities say Beeman opened fire and Burkart shot back. He later called police for help.
Beeman was air-lifted to University of Missouri Hospital. No one else was hurt.
Detectives found a firearm in Burkhart's residence which they say may have been used in the shooting. Officers also found several items of drug paraphernalia.
Burkhart was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon. He is held at the Camden County Adult Detention Facility on a $15,000 cash bond.
