BOONE COUNTY - Emergency responders confirm one person died in the accident on Route B near East Mount Zion Church Road close to Hallsville Friday morning. Gale Blomenkamp, a battalion chief with the Boone County Fire Protection District, said a middle-aged woman died in a two-car accident. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Blomenkamp said the woman was driving a Honda Accord with one other passenger in the car. A truck struck the driver's side of the car. The passenger from the Accord was taken to University Hospital with minor injuries. The truck driver was also hospitalized as a precaution.

Police and firefighters were forced to close Route B until around 9 a.m.

Responders will not release information on the cause of the accident until the Missouri State Highway Patrol completes its investigation of the incident.
