UPDATE: One Victim of SW Mo. Plane Crash Identified
JOPLIN (AP) - A 41-year-old Joplin lawyer has been identified as one of two people killed in a weekend plane crash in southwest Missouri.
The Joplin Globe reports that R. Deryl Edwards Jr. died in the crash Sunday near Stotts City. Edwards' father, Deryl Edwards Sr., confirmed the fatality. The name of the second person on the plane who was also killed in the crash has not been released.
Authorities said the twin-engine Cessna 310 they were in crashed in dense woods near Stotts City after it had taken off from the Monett Airport. No one on the ground was hurt.
Edwards Sr. said his son had a passion for flying that was shared by others in the family.
