BOONE COUNTY - A helicopter airlifted a 23-year-old female to University Hospital after she fell 25 feet from a cliff while rock climbing late Sunday, Boone County Fire District officials said.

Lt. Josh Creamer said the woman fell around 9 p.m while climbing with a male in his 20s on personal property off Akeman Bridge Road near Hinton. The other victim left in a personal vehicle, Creamer said, but the female victim left via helicopter with leg injuries.

Creamer could not confirm the severity of the injuries, nor could he confirm how long the two victims had been climbing at that cliff.
