COLUMBIA -- The Southeastern Conference is setting up plans for the 2013 Football season during week eight of the 2012 season. On Thursday, the SEC released the 8-game conference schedules for their 14 institutions.
Mizzou will open conference play on the road against Vanderbilt on October 5 before heading to Georgia on October 12. The Tigers will host SEC East opponents Florida on October 19, South Carolina on October 26 and Tennessee on November 2. The Tigers will then travel to Kentucky on November 9.
Mizzou will close out the season against two SEC West opponents. The Tigers will hit the road and head to The Grove to battle Ole Miss on November 23 before hosting Texas A&M on November 30. The Tigers will face the Aggies for the fourth consecutive year dating back to October 16, 2010 when the two were still members of the Big 12 Conference.
Missouri will have to wait another year before facing cross-divisional rival Arkansas in football. The SEC says those will take effect in 2014.
In its first season as a member of the SEC, the Tigers are 0-4 in the conference play. Mizzou is currently under its bye week but will host Kentucky on Saturday, October 27 at 11:00 a.m. for the 101st Homecoming. The game can be seen on ESPNU.
Mizzou also announced the Tigers will open the 2013 season up with two games at home: Murray State on August 31 and Toledo on September 7. The only other non-conference opponent currently on the 2013 Schedule is Indiana on September 21. Missouri will need to schedule two more opponents to complete the schedule on September 14, September 28 or November 16. One week must remain open to serve as a bye week.
