COLUMBIA - A 19-year-old woman fought off an attempted stabbing late Tuesday at Broadway and Second streets but needed an ambulance after the suspect fled, police said.
A news release from the Columbia Police Department confirmed a suspect tried to stab the victim around 8 p.m., and it claimed he grabbed her from the back and threw her to the ground. Police said the victim had a chest laceration and cuts on her legs and hands.
The incident occurred near the Columbia Cemetery, according to the police department news release. The search continues for the suspect who is described as a male in his mid-30's with blonde hair and multiple tattoos and piercings. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and jeans.
