KANSAS CITY (AP) - The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a resolution to make the Liberty Memorial in Kansas City the official "National World War I Museum and Memorial."
It also would make the Kansas City monument the anchor of a national observance of the centennial of World War I.
The Senate must still consider the resolution.
The Kansas City Star reports the resolution is a compromise between the Liberty Memorial and others who want a national World War I memorial in Washington D.C.
The bill allows those groups to also establish a memorial in the nation's capital.
