Vehicle Pursuit from Jefferson City Ends with One Arrested
JEFFERSON CITY - One Jefferson City man was arrested Friday after a vehicle pursuit.
In the area of W. Main Street and Dix Road, a Jefferson City police officer attempted to make contact with the driver of a vehicle that had been reported as operating recklessly.
As the officer approached the vehicle to make contact with the driver, the officer said the vehicle pulled away from the area and a pursuit ensued.
Police said the fleeing driver traveled eastbound on Main Street and eventually onto northbound US 54. Police said the fleeing vehicle attempted to drive through a chain link fence at the Jefferson City Municipal Airport but was unsuccessful and subsequently taken into custody.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle was identified as Charlie Walter, 34, of California, Mo.
Walters is charged with driving while revoked, driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest by fleeing, leaving the scene of an accident, careless and imprudent driving, and property destruction.
He also had two outstanding parole violation warrants at the time of his arrest, one Cole County warrant and one Callaway County warrant.
Walters is currently being held in the Cole County Jail.
