Cages at MU's own animal house were open and anyone could climb inside.

"We're at kind of the forefront of the new upcoming technology, or the new procedures being here at the University so you can come and learn about things and go back and talk to your doctor about them." says Brady Bennett an Animal House organizer.

Agility dogs, an equine breed show and a petting zoo were just a few of the things on display.

"I know when I was little always wanting to go to petting zoos and see the animals, so it is a lot of fun working with them because they get so excited about it."  says Katie O'Brien an Animal House volunteer.

For volunteers like O'Brien, this open house is a unique opportunity to get closer to the people in the program.

"I'm meeting all the other vet students, I've gotten to know some people and they're telling me about it so it is nice to get involved with the people I'm going to be in vet school with for the next four years."  says O'Brien.

Current vet students like Bennet say the open house even has planned activities to get those interested in vet medicine information.

"There are specific sessions throughout the day for people who are interested in becoming a veterinary student here they can come, learn about admissions talk to us, learn what it is like to be in vet school."  says Bennett.
