Veterans Honored at Air Show
MEXICO, Mo. - The Mexico Memorial Airport was graced with planes of the past today at the Air Fest Salute to Veterans.
The air show showcased a handful of old military planes in honor of Missouri veterans and to support the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico.
People of all ages came out to take a closer look at the flying machines. The day included live music, memorabilia, food and a chance to thank veterans.
Senator Kit Bond, whose son is a veteran, spoke about the importance of honoring veterans.
"This is a great opportunity to honor some of the most important people that I have had the pleasure of knowing," Bond said. "And those are the veterans that have served in the past wars. They are the ones who are being served now at the Veterans Home, and I thank all of you for your contributions today."
The Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Mo., has been serving veterans for about 25 years.
