PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Michael Vick has been ruled out for the Eagles' game at the New York Giants on Sunday night. Philadelphia's No. 1 quarterback didn't practice this week because of two broken ribs sustained in a 21-17 loss to Arizona a week ago.

Vick's absence opens the door for Vince Young's first start in an Eagles uniform.

Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin also has been ruled out because of shoulder and hamstring injuries.

The 3-6 Eagles desperately need a victory over the first-place Giants to avoid being all-but-mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
