COLUMBIA - Encircle Technologies hosted its second annual gaming tournament to raise awareness of autism on Saturday, Oct. 15. The tournament was held at United Methodist Church on Ninth street in Columbia.

Contestants of the tournament played Super Smash Bros Melee video game. The contestants brought their own gaming controller and registered to play. The tournament consisted of a professional gamer's bracket as well as an amateur bracket. Those in the amateurs' bracket just competed for bragging rights while the winner of the professional bracket will win a total of $2,000.

"We have this event because we know that our students would like video games rather than sitting at a banquet table," Founder of Encircle Technologies Teri Walden said. "This is more like what they can participate in."

The tournament started at 9 a.m. and will not end until 9 p.m. All money raised will help fund classes for Encircle Technologies.
