MARIES COUNTY — Maries County Prosecutor charged a 32-year-old man with second degree burglary Thursday shortly after being arrested during the evening hours of Halloween.

According to the Maries County Sheriff's Office, Jacob W. Burke of Vienna unlawfully entered a residence located off of Highway 42. He proceeded to remove copper wire and other scrap metals from the house.

Members of the sheriff's office and several private citizens have recently invested in camera systems. Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman said these cameras are to help catch the criminals in the act and that they have proven to be very successful.

Burke remains in the Maries County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
