Vietnam Vets Memorial dedicated in southwest Missouri
POINT LOOKOUT (AP) - Hundreds of people turned out to honor the Missouri men and women who died in the Vietnam War during the dedication of a memorial at a southwest Missouri college.
The memorial bearing more than 1,400 names was unveiled Wednesday at the College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout.
Missouri lawmakers have designated the memorial as the official Vietnam War Memorial for the state.
The Springfield News-Leader reports Lt. Col. Oliver North spoke at the dedication. He said the people whose names were on the memorial were the true definition of heroes, as were all those were served their country.
The memorial includes two walls of names and a statue of Vietnam veterans. It was designed by Austin Meyer, a 2014 College of the Ozarks graduate.
