Viewer survey: Share your thoughts on gun control
COLUMBIA - The mass shooting in Orlando is renewing debate on gun control in the U.S., especially the issues of background checks and assault rifles. We want to know what you think.
According to the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action, no permit for purchases is required for rifles or handguns in Missouri; registration is not required; owners do not have to be licensed; and permits to carry are required for handguns only, not rifles and shotguns.
The state does not require background checks for private sales. Only federally-licensed dealers must complete such checks.
