MARSHALL, MO -- The Missouri Valley College men's basketball team was able to keep pace with Hastings College in the first half, but the Bronco's would pull away from the Vikings in the second half, in an 81-61 loss for MVC at the Doane Classic in Crete, Nebraska.
The Vikings started the game by scoring the first five points, and went back and forth with Hastings through the rest of the first half of play, going into the locker room trailing by only seven points. Despite shooting over 50-percent in the game, and 61-percent in the second half, the Vikings were always kept at a distance by Hastings.
Leading the way for the Vikings was Senior Michael Connor who had 13 points and three rebounds. Also in double-digits for MVC were Freshman Jordan Epps who had 12 points to go along with five steals and two assists, while both Junior Lawrence Brown and Freshman Christian Williams had ten points apiece.
The loss drops the Vikings to 1-2 on the season, with both losses coming to Hastings. The Broncos defeated MVC in the season opener 75-60 Nov. 2. The Vikings have one more game Saturday at the Doane Classic, against the host school, Doane College at 4 p.m.
