Volunteer Headed South To Assist Tornado Victims
JEFFERSON CITY - The Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross announced Monday that they will send another volunteer to assist with relief efforts following the tornados in the south.
Becky Thompson of Camdenton will do "client case work" for two weeks in Jackson, Miss., as part of her first national deployment, the Red Cross announced in a press release Monday. The group has deployed seven volunteers to disaster areas in Missouri and the southern U.S. in the past weeks.
The death toll in the outbreak has risen to 345, making it one of the deadliest outbreaks in the past 40 years.
