Water Sweeps Cars Off Highway
A dispatcher with the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the cars were swept off the highway between Syracuse and Bunceton, but the occupants were believed to be safe.
The incident occurred after morning thunderstorms dropped up to six inches of rain across parts of Cooper, Morgan, Saline, Pettis, and Howard counties where flash flood warnings were posted until noon. An automated rain gauge near Otterville measured 4.5 inches of rain in less than 2 hours. The National Weather Service said numerous roads throughout Cooper County were flooded and impassable.
