LINN - Some schools in Miller, Osage and Camden counties were closed Monday due to bad weather conditions.

Missouri Department of Transportation official Preston Kramer said, despite receiving up to three inches of snow in some areas over the weekend, state roads were mostly clear.

However, some local and county roads could still be icy from the leftover snow. Kramer said because of that the school cancellation is understanable.

MoDOT official Randy Aulbur said, even though most of the roads appear to be clear, it's important to be cautious of deceivingly slick roads and take the weather seriously.

"We have had a few fatalities in the district, so I would say there were issues that were weather related. It's a serious thing," Aulbur said.

Aulbur said he expects the weather to clear up in the next week and for roads to return to normal.
