WARSAW, Mo. (AP) - The death of a young female whose weighted-down body surfaced in a western Missouri lake is being investigated as a homicide.
Benton County Sheriff Rick Fajen says boaters found the body Sunday in the Warsaw area of Truman Lake after it floated to the surface.
Authorities would not give details Tuesday about how they believe the young, white female was killed. She's described as 13 to 20 years old and roughly 5 feet 8 inches tall.
Investigators are trying to identify the victim. They're asking authorities in Missouri and neighboring states about any missing persons reports.
