Woman accused of defrauding sister to cover embezzlement tab
ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis County woman is accused in federal court of defrauding her sister to pay off money owed from a previous embezzlement.
A grand jury has indicted 66-year-old Susan Hampe on Wednesday on one count of mail fraud.
Prosecutors say Hampe falsely represented herself as sole trustee and beneficiary of a trust that included her late mother's St. Louis County home. Authorities said that when the home sold, Hampe used the proceeds to pay $60,000 in restitution owed to a St. Louis County medical practice from which she embezzled while working as an office manager.
Online court records do not show whether Hampe has an attorney to speak publicly about the case.
