COLUMBIA - A 74-year-old woman was extracted from her vehicle late Thursday morning after she drove her car off a cliff at a parking lot at 1506 Chapel Hill Rd.

The woman's vehicle was approximately 35 ft. down an embankment, and stopped at a tree large enough to prevent it from falling an additional 75 ft. to the ground.

Firefighters said the victim was wearing a seatbelt, and declined medical treatment at the scene. The rescue operation took 30 minutes.
