Woman Uses Screwdriver to Defend Herself During Stabbing
JEFFERSON CITY - A Jefferson City man is facing first degree assault and armed criminal action charges following a domestic dispute in which he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend multiple times.
Jefferson City Police responded at 2:15 a.m. to the 100 block of W. Atchison Street to find a woman in the middle of the road bleeding from three stab wounds. Police say the suspect, 50-year-old Willie Harrison, was nearby in a parking lot and had a stab wound to his head.
After investigation, police determined Harrison dragged his girlfriend down the stairs in an apartment on Washington Street and stabbed her with a small knife. Police say the woman stabbed Harrison with a screwdriver in the head out of self-defense.
Police Captain Robert Clark said neighbors told police the two had a history of having loud fights.
Jefferson City Police said both individuals were taken to separate hospitals. Harrison was released from the hospital and taken to the Cole County Jail while his girlfriend was released from the hospital later in the morning.
