Women's Basketball Recruits Two New Tigers
COLUMBIA - Coach Robin Pingeton announced on Thursday that she has signed prep standout Morgan Eye and junior college All-American Liz Smith to National Letters of Intent, she announced on Thursday.
Eye will be joining fellow newcomers Bree Fowler and Kyley Simmons who both signed with the Tigers in November as freshman in the fall. Eye helped lead Montrose High School to the Class 1 state title in the 2009-2010 seasonand a 28-1 record and a state quarterfinal appearance in 2010-2011 season. She averaged 24.6 PPG, 8.5 RPG and 6.5 APG and received spots on the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association and Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association first teams. Eye endede her prep career with 2,500 points, breaking her high school's 18-year-old career scoring record.
Liz Smith will be transferring to Missouri after spending her last two years at Johnson County Community College. Smith averaged 12.8 PPG, 9.2 RPG and shot 54% from the floor during the 2010-2011 season, earning her sports on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and State Farm Junior College/Community College All-America honorable mention teams. Smith recorded 15 double-doubles and scored 28 times in double figures.
