Women's History on Display in March
COLUMBIA - Amelia Earhart, Emily Dickinson, Michelle Obama. These women each made history in her own way. MU's Women's Center celebrates all women this March, Women's History Month.
The Women's Center hosted a social Tuesday to celebrate a Missouri woman in history, Eva Sinclair Johnston. Johnston became a student at MU in 1892 and later became the MU's first female dean.
Women's Center Coordinator Suzy Day said it is important to celebrate women.
"Women were an integral part of our history and in building our country, and yet a lot of the women's stories and the contributions they made to history are left out of our history books," Day said.
Information about the rest of the Women's Center events for March can be found here.
Columbia's Parks and Recreation Department also has a Women's History Month exhibit available for schools and organizations to reserve. The Parks and Recreation staff will bring the exhibit to the organization for a presentation. More information about the events and exhibits can be found on the map below with information from Columbia Parks and Recreation and University of Missouri Women's Center.
