Women's Hoops Crush SIU-C at Home
COLUMBIA -- The Tiger women were home Sunday afternoon against Southern Illinois-Carbondale.
Into the first half, Lianna Doty drives for the basket. She had 11 points in the game. Later in the first, Kyley Simmons to Sydney Crafton to Liz Smith for the tic-tac-toe play. Tigers lead 12-9.
Nearing halftime Liene Priede is stuffed on her first attempt, but gets her own rebound and the basket. Mizzou led 47-28 at the half.
As the second half takes off, Doty dishes to Maddie Stock for the three; she 6-7 from three point range and had 22 points in all 16 minutes off the bench. Doty passes to Bri Kulas for the three, Kulas had 22. Mizzou crushes the competition at home in a 110-47 victory.
Women's head coach Robin Pingeton said post-game, "I think our kids are playing really well, really unselfish right now... makes it real easy when you have kids coming in off the bench and playing as well as they do." Senior guard Sydney Crafton said of her teammates, "we've got shooters. We've got jump shooters - you know like LP, she's a pop-stop - and we've got people that can take it to the basket, then you've got our post players.. it's like an all-around team. We've got every kind of scorer that you need."
The lady Tigers resume action on Tuesday night at Mizzou Arena versus Morgan State.
