Worker identified in deadly Cole County construction accident
COLE COUNTY — The Cole County Sheriff's Department has identified the worker killed at a construction site south of Jefferson City.
The worker was Korey Licklider, 28, from Steelville. The incident happened near the intersection of Highway 54 and Route D.
On Tuesday, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) said Licklider was hit by an outrigger on a concrete pump truck.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the employee who lost his life yesterday,” said Karena Lorek, OSHA’s acting Area Director in Kansas City. “We will conduct a thorough investigation to determine if any violations of OSHA safety standards contributed to the incident.”
"It was a tragic accident," Cole County Chief Deputy John Wheeler said. "So we're still conducting an investigation."
The construction site is for a Dollar General store.
