Worker injured in St. Louis manhole explosion

ST. LOUIS (AP) - An electrical contractor working underground has been injured in a downtown St. Louis manhole explosion.

KMOV-TV reports that the Ameren contractor suffered burns to the face and arms after the Friday morning explosion near the AT&T building at 9th and Chestnut streets.

The St. Louis Fire Department says the worker was removing what were believed to be dead electrical cables.
